So the reason I haven’t posted in a few days is because my laptop blew up…. it may or may not have been my fault…ehem so a couple months back (2 I think) I bought a used laptop from Easy Home (a furniture rental place) it cost me $80.00 Great Deal!! anyway, the laptop had easy home as the admin for it’s system, so I set about toying with the settings and in no time flat had figured out how to delete easy home and make myself the admin.

I also loaded my own favourite programs such as Win Amp, Open Office , and AVG , all was well in my little world…. then about a week ago my lap top started randomly shutting down (pretty much anytime it tried to auto update to Windows 8.1 ) so I turned off the auto updates and cleaned up the hard drive….once again all was well in my little world.

Then Saturday while I was surfing the web things started to get funky…. first my firewall kept saying that my device was compromised…it wasn’t , no virus had found it’s way onto my laptop, it was a trusted website, kinda startled me as I did not know the laptop could talk!! Imagine my surprise when the damn thing started talking to me…. kinda freaked me out some.

So I went off line, ran a virus scan, (no threats were found) , so I figured I’ll restart the laptop and that should reset the hard drive and fix what ever hiccup it had….. just before the start screen a message appeared saying that this device may have been stolen and that you may be in possession of stolen property, the authorities have been notified and I had 48 hours to contact easy home or I would be named in the lawsuit …… WTF!! again…. WTF!!

I clicked okay (the I don’t give a rat’s ass button) and continued my way into the settings determined to find all traces of easy home and permanently delete ALL of it, which I did, then I changed the Windows Firewall settings (beefed them up) , by this time the laptop was having a full on Thermonuclear Meltdown, and started rebooting itself every 20 seconds saying there was an error in one of the Windows systems……. again WTF!!

it was obvious that the laptop was screwed, left with no choice I tried the fast restore (saving my user settings and files) ….it didn’t work, in fact the laptop became even more unstable (if that’s even possible) so I ended up hitting the Factory Restore button, doing that completely wiped the hard drive, but it re installed Windows .

Now I lost ALL my pictures and music …Craptastic!! and ALL my favourite programs….again that’s just Craptastic!! However I now have a perfectly operating laptop! And ALL that easy home crap is GONE, I have been busy reloading and installing my favourite programs, and during my journey around the web picking up said programs , I have learned that Google Chrome also has a built in anti virus/malware program because every time I tried to download Open Office Google Chrome would block it and a little pop up would appear saying Open Office is a direct threat virus to your Windows system …… What a Load of CRAP!!! it surely is NOT!! so to get around that I had to use Explorer to download Open Office, which is what I am using to write this blog so obviously it worked.

About all I have left to do is hook up the printer and reset the controls on that and everything should be back to normal, over time I will reload all my photos (transfer them from our cell phones & digital camera) and download all my music, I’m in no rush to do either for that the pictures and music can be reloaded as time permits, I can get most songs back from copying the files from my wife’s mp3 player and our son’s playstation vita, which should just leave around 30 songs to download from MP3 Skull (free music download site)

So I guess that’s about all for now, I will write tomorrow and let you all know what’s going on with my wife and any further cancer treatments (if any) as tomorrow is her appointment at the Cancer Centre, in the mean time remember folks: express your love often,never take tomorrow for granted,and be kind to others.
